Santa Baby and Christmas Tree Time

This weekend was filled with Christmas festivities for our family. First, we put up Grace's little Christmas tree in her bedroom. She enjoyed decorating it herself, and wouldn't let me help more than just handing her the ornaments! She has already rearranged it several times. I did the same thing when I was young, so I just smile and watch her creativity blossom.

Next, we went to the mall and saw Santa. Grace was a little anxious at first, but quickly warmed up and informed Santa that she wanted a bicycle for Christmas this year. Santa listened to her patiently, and I am not sure what he said to her, but she listened to him with rapt attention! She even willingly smiled for the camera.

Finally, we put up our family Christmas tree. Grace put on ornaments, and Deej and I came behind her and spaced them out a bit, to fill the tree. She has fussed with the tree several times, trying to rearrange it, but after I administered the maternal mean look, she has given up and is content to simply observe the tree. At least that is what she does when I am in the room!

School Pictures

Grace started 3 year old preschool this year and had her first set of school pictures taken in early November. She smiled sweetly, even if it was fake! She is really enjoying school, although some of the phrases and insults she comes home with are less than stellar. But, she adores her teacher and always looks forward to going, so we're thankful for her happiness.

It's that time again...

Hard to believe, but Christmas is almost here again! And at our house, that means that it's almost Grace's birthday too! Gracie girl will be turning 4 this year...that makes me proud and sad at the same time. I'm so proud of the intelligent and confident child she has become, but, as every mother knows, I'm sad at the thought of losing my baby. But time goes on and even though I am wistful about her baby days, I am excited about the future as well.

Who's Getting Married? US!

At the beginning of November, DJ and I had engagement pictures taken. We used a variety of locations and poses in Carrollton, and had beautiful weather the day of the shoot. We took some of just the two of us, and some of our whole little family. It was a wonderful experience and we are so pleased with the pictures!

Grace's Field Trip and Class Party

Grace had her first field trip and first holiday party during the last week of October. Her preschool class went to a local pumpkin patch and she loved panning for gold, going on a nature hike, and stuffing a scarecrow. Her Papaw went with her as a chaperone, and helped her choose the perfect "baby punkin"!

This is Grace, her Papaw, and her teacher, Mrs. Missy. She LOVES her teacher, which I am thankful for!

That Friday, Grace's class had a Halloween party, which DJ attended with her. She had lots of yummy treats and fun with her friends. And DJ was a trooper for going with her! A room full of 3 year olds! I bet it made him miss being in Egypt! HAHA!

Halloween 2009

Halloween was a wet but cheerful event! Grace went as the lovely Princess Snow White this year. We went to the Morse's house after dinner and tried to dodge the rain for some trick or treating, which the girls thoroughly enjoyed. Rain didn't slow them down and they both got a lot of candy. Happy Halloween!
