Cheer Camp

Grace attended cheer camp in June at our local high school and LOVED it! She memorized all of the cheers and dances, and was not shy at all when it was performance time. She looked precious in her cheer camp shirt and curly pigtails, and she nailed all of the routines!

This was the first day of camp. Danielle, Grace, Abby, and Taylor, all ready to cheer!

This was the day of her performance, and she was SO excited!

Grace enjoyed cheer camp so much that we signed her up for cheerleading in the fall at our church!

School's Out for SUMMER!

Grace finished her year of Pre-K with a fun graduation and party at the end of May. She was so excited and very animated during their performance. She got the award for best reader in her class and actually finished the school year with 25 AR points, which is the most AR points of any Ithica Pre-K student ever. We are so proud of her! She worked hard this year and deserves a relaxing summer!

Now it's time for some fun in the sun and lazy days! Happy summer!!!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

DJ and I took Grace to her first baseball game in May. We took my Dad along as well, as part of the fun! Grace had a wonderful time dancing to the music, enjoying the snacks, and cheering. She especially loved doing the Tomahawk Chop! I am not a huge baseball fan, but it was a really fun afternoon.

And the perfect end to a wonderful day...the Braves won! Go Braves!

Grace's First Friend

Anyone familiar with our family knows exactly who this is:
Lucy

I bought a small, soft pink eared bunny blankie for my precious new daughter when she was about three months old. My reason was that I wanted her to have a "lovey", which is an object that gives her comfort and teaches her to self-soothe. Well, it worked. She took right to her new pink friend. So much so, the little bunny had to go with us everywhere. I worried we might lose it, so I bought three more of the exact same bunny blankies. Good thing too, because that little pink bunny became Grace'e best friend and the love of her young life.

I quickly tired of referring to it as the pink bunny, and chose a short easy to say name for it: Lucy, which she shortened to "Luce". Every time Grace got sleepy, Lucy was retrieved. She has been there through many stomach bugs and sleepless nights, through transitioning to a toddler bed and then into a big girl bed, through picture sessions and days apart, and on countless vacations and road trips.

As you can see, Lucy used to have a nice black nose and lovely, silky ears. Grace picked all the thread out of her nose, so she is now nose-less. The hot pink satin that made those silky ears so good for snuggling has been replaced many times by a loving Mamaw. Grace rubs and rubs those little ears as she is drifting off to sleep, so they have been worn out on all four Lucy's.

Lucy will likely be with us forever as Grace's favorite snuggle buddy and friend.

Happy birthday, Deej!

My wonderful husband turned 30 this April. He is such a blessing to my life, and has stepped into the role of loving husband and father so completely. He takes care of our family, and leads us to church and through life. Grace and I are lucky to have him. Happy birthday, my love! We wish you many, many more.

Easter 2011

Easter was wonderful again this year! Grace loved dyeing her Easter eggs and going on multiple egg hunts! She also seemed to enjoy the actual reason for the season, and celebrate Jesus' Resurrection. We had some great family time together!
