Lucy
I bought a small, soft pink eared bunny blankie for my precious new daughter when she was about three months old. My reason was that I wanted her to have a "lovey", which is an object that gives her comfort and teaches her to self-soothe. Well, it worked. She took right to her new pink friend. So much so, the little bunny had to go with us everywhere. I worried we might lose it, so I bought three more of the exact same bunny blankies. Good thing too, because that little pink bunny became Grace'e best friend and the love of her young life.
I quickly tired of referring to it as the pink bunny, and chose a short easy to say name for it: Lucy, which she shortened to "Luce". Every time Grace got sleepy, Lucy was retrieved. She has been there through many stomach bugs and sleepless nights, through transitioning to a toddler bed and then into a big girl bed, through picture sessions and days apart, and on countless vacations and road trips.
As you can see, Lucy used to have a nice black nose and lovely, silky ears. Grace picked all the thread out of her nose, so she is now nose-less. The hot pink satin that made those silky ears so good for snuggling has been replaced many times by a loving Mamaw. Grace rubs and rubs those little ears as she is drifting off to sleep, so they have been worn out on all four Lucy's.
